Hosts FAQ

What is Evernode
Evernode is a decentralized marketplace of hosting infrastructure for decentralized apps, a "DePIN". Comprising of "Hosts", the physical servers hosting the network, and "Tenants" who rent these server slots
What is an Evernode Host?
An Evernode Host is a server that provides compute resources to the network, allowing anything from advanced clustered smart contracts, to stand-alone docker images to use them. These Hosts can also earn rewards in Evers (EVR) if they maintain a standard of reputation over a number of moments, this bootstraps the network if not being rented out.
How Do I Become An Evernode Host?
You need to set up a server running Ubuntu 24.04 with a minimum of 4 CPUs at 2.5GHz with over 6GB RAM, and 74GB HDD space, which has full public net access and a domain ready to use (the DNS A record pointing to your server), then install the Evernode software, which will register you on the network hook (on the Xahau Ledger) costing you 500EVR to do so. If you want to receive the network rewards, you will need to maintain a minimum reputation score of 200. See the official documentation for more details (in the Info & Tools section).
What Are Host Reputation Scores?
Reputation scores reflect host reliability, uptime, and performance. Hosts need to opt-in to this service, which then maintains a running contract in a instance which reports back to a network hook every hour. This is done to 1, receive network rewards (if maintaining a score of over 200) and 2, to show reliance to tenants.
Do Hosts Get Rewards in EVR?
Yes, Hosts are rewarded in EVRs daily, IF they keep a good reputation score of over 200. The rewards are accumulated every hour (1 moment) and are paid out every 24 hours. Check the Info & Tools tab for reward amounts, but as of writing this, it can be up to around 3 EVRs daily.
Why is my Host or Domain Not Listed?
The initial predefined list is a list of evernodes that have been confirmed as having a Xaman deployable landing page installed, one of the main purposes of this site is to help find these. If your Host DOES have this and you want it listed in the main initial predefined list, PLEASE get in touch so we can list it!
Why is my evernode only seen when i toggle the show inactive?
If your Host is reported as Inactive bbut the hook, they are not initially shown (and only shown when toggling this feature to display inactive hosts). Being inactive may be caused by network, or xahau node issues on your evernode, as they need to maintain a "heartbeat" to the hook every hour. clicking (or mouse over) can give you more details of the errors
Can I Host More Than One Evernode?
Yes, you can own and run as many Evernode hosts as you wish, the only restriction is the 500 EVR per registration and hardware limitations. Hosting more than one Evernode on one server needs planning, due to the routing of ports and TLS distributions, but this can be achieved with the right setup. Proxmox is an excellent choice, along with NPMplus as a proxy for them, check the tools section for links.
Can I install these landing pages to support Xaman to my existing evernode?
currently, there is no support for installing on stand alone evernodes, maybe in the future if requested enough.

Tenants FAQ

What is Evernode
Evernode is a decentralized marketplace of hosting infrastructure for decentralized apps, a "DePIN". Comprising of "Hosts", the physical servers hosting the network, and "Tenants" who rent these server slots
What is an Evernode Tenant?
A Tenant rents compute "slots" also known as "Instances" from Evernode Hosts, paying in Evers (EVR) per hour (moment).
What Can I Run On A Host as a Tenant?
The Hosts are, in simple terms, rootless Docker servers, so you can run ANY docker images you want. That being said, the landing pages of the evernodes have pre-selected some images to get you started, or you can select "custom" and enter your own. This is all via the landing pages of each Evernode. You can also run "smart contracts" which are JavaScript dAPPs, either standalone or in a clustered array of Evernodes, but currently, that's only via command-line tools, and not directly from landing pages at the present time.
How do I Acquire An Instance?
Acquire EVR in your Xaman wallet on the Xahau network, choose a host with available instances from the explorer, which will lead you to their "Landing page". This is hosted by the Evernode itself and is completely independent of that Evernode. On this page, you can select a slot, select an image (or choose custom and enter your own docker image), deploy, log in via Xaman App, and sign to send the required EVR amount.
How do I Choose a Host?
Consider reputation, instance availability, location, pricing, and their resources. Use this explorer to compare hosts.
What if a Host Goes Offline?
Hosts can go offline, just like any server or services online, so please monitor and ALWAYS maintain backups. Offline Hosts can be mitigated if you "cluster" Evernodes together.
